2 tablespoons butter (softened)
-
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
-
1/4 cup milk
-
1/2 cup grated Gruyère cheese (optional topping)

Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
-
Spread butter on one side of each bread slice. If using Dijon mustard, spread it on the inside of the bread slices.

Layer the ham and Gruyère cheese on top of one slice of bread, and then place the second slice on top, buttered side facing out.
-
Grill the sandwich in a skillet or air fry at 350°F (175°C) for 7-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted.
-
Mix the milk, grated cheese, salt, and pepper, then spoon over the sandwich in the last few minutes of grilling.
-
Optionally, broil the sandwich for 2 minutes to melt the topping. Serve hot and enjoy!
